VPK Lead Teacher

The VPK Lead Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, caring, and educational classroom environment that prepares children for kindergarten.

The teacher’s responsibilities include:

• Preparing and following weekly lesson plans.
• Teaching according to the VPK standards and approved curriculum.
• Providing daily activities in literacy, math, science, art, music, and social-emotional development.
• Supervising children closely and maintaining the required classroom ratio.
• Using positive guidance and age-appropriate classroom-management techniques.
• Completing attendance, assessments, portfolios, and required classroom documentation.
• Keeping the classroom clean, organized, safe, and ready for learning.
• Communicating professionally with parents regarding their child’s progress or concerns.
• Working cooperatively with the assistant teacher, director, and other staff.
• Following all center policies, licensing rules, and VPK requirements.
• Attending required meetings, training, and professional-development courses.
• Maintaining all required credentials, certifications, and background-screening requirements.

The VPK Lead Teacher must be dependable, punctual, professional, patient, and respectful toward children, families, and coworkers.
