Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  1. Assist with the coordination of the Parent Committees and in the recruitment of the Policy Committee meetings.
  2. Establish and maintain an outreach and recruitment action plan, which systematically ensures enrollment of eligible children including a 10% special needs population.  Identify families whose children are eligible for Head Start/EarlyHead Start services, by informing them of the services available, and encourages them to apply for enrollment in the program.
  3. Provide enrollment of eligible children regardless of race, sex, creed, color, national origin, or special needs condition. Ensure completion of all necessary procedures for a child and family to begin receiving services.
  4. Encourage parent’s participation in center activities and support home activities.
  5. Complete family needs assessment in order to meet individual needs of the families served.
  6. Coordinate home visits together with the classroom teacher and assist the family in its own efforts to improve the condition and quality of family life.
  7. Build a collaborative partnership with parents to establish mutual trust and support.   Offer parents the opportunites to develop and implement individualized family partnership agreements that describe family goals, responsibilities timetables and strategies for achieveing these goals as well as documenting the progress of achieving them.
  8. Make parents aware of community services, resources and facilities available to them.
  9. Build a collaborative partnership with other agencies to ensure coordination, referrals, cooperation and the sharing of information with community agencies.
  10. Coordinate client referrals to outside agencies such as vocational, educational, medical or social agencies in order to support family plan and ensure follow up.
  11.  Coordinate and support successful transitions for enrolled children and families from, home or previous child care programs into Early Head Start or Head Start and from Head Start into elementary school.  Transitions procedures are to be ongoing and not limited to one-time efforts at the end of the program year
  12. Provide for the establishment, maintenance and confidentiality of records of up-to-date, pertinent family data, including completed enrollment forms, referral and follow up reports, reports of contacts with other agencies, reports of contacts with families.
  13. Receive all visitors to the program including guests, clients, and vendors.
  14. Ensure accurate daily attendance.
  15. Maintain a harmonious working atmosphere with the office personnel and the staff at the center.
  16. Consider individual children and their parents in relationship to their cultural and socio-economic background.
  17. Treat children and parents with dignity and respect.
  18. Attend meetings and conferences of professional organizations appropriate to social services, early childhood education, etc.
  19. Complete other related activities and training as required by the administration.
  20. Responsible for the care of computers/laptops and all office equipment.
  21. Ensure In-kind is completed by parents, volunteers and outside agencies.
  22. Responsible for the maintenance of first aid kits at each agency site.
  23. Ensure that there is an isolation area available at site to be used accordingly.
  24. Attend to the needs of any child having a health concern and follow up procedures.
  25. Completes the required paper work to identified health concerns.
  26. Ensure all information is documented and uploaded to childplus.
  27. Complete proper assessment of documentation containing current immunization, physical, labs, vision, heating, etc. status of each individual child.
  28. Send appropriate referrers to appropriate component area
  29. Attend Health Advisory Meetings
  30. Complete proper assessment of documentation containing current immunization status of each individual child.
  31. Complete and update the Health Data Tracking in the program used by the head start and early head start program.
  32. Advise parents of pertinent information regarding utilization of community resources and referrals for the attention of children and families’ medical needs.
  33. Assists in the involvement of parents for the planning and implementation of individual health needs of their children.
  34. Ensure transition process is explained to parents and encourage their participation and input for transition.
  35. Complete and turn in all necessary reports and records as required by the program and those requested by the Administrative Staff in a timely basis, in a neat and legible manner.
  36. Encourage parents to volunteer and complete the appropriate non-federal share forms.
  37. Complete Personnel Activity Report (Time Sheet)
Qualifications & Preferences
  1. Possession of 60 College Credits
  2. Acquire Credential within 12 months of hire.
  3. Considerable experience in community involvement, social work and/or family related work perferred.
  4. Must complete all Department of Children and Families minimum requirements, KIDCO’s minimum requirements and the new Head Start Performance Standards.
