Duties and Responsibilities

Plan and implement age-appropriate lessons and activities for VPK students.
Follow the VPK curriculum and daily classroom schedule.
Create a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment.
Prepare children for kindergarten by supporting early literacy, math, social, and emotional skills.
Observe and document children’s progress and development.
Complete required VPK assessments and maintain classroom records.
Maintain an organized, clean, and inviting classroom.
Communicate professionally with parents regarding their child’s progress and classroom activities.
Provide appropriate supervision and ensure the safety of all children at all times.
Follow all school policies, VPK requirements, and DCF rules and regulations.
Work cooperatively with administration and other staff members.
Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development as required.
Assist with classroom routines, transitions, meals/snacks, and other daily needs.
Perform other classroom-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Preferences

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Must meet all Florida VPK instructor requirements.
Active Florida Child Care Staff Credential/ CDA.
Completion of required DCF child care training hours.
Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
Level 2 background screening eligibility required.
Previous experience working with preschool or VPK-aged children preferred.
Knowledge of early childhood development and age-appropriate teaching practices.
Familiarity with Creative Curriculum preferred.
Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
Reliable, punctual, patient, and professional.
Strong communication skills with children, families, and staff.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
